26 New Prayers

In March 2021, the Bahá’í World Center released on its website a collection of twenty-six prayers of ʻAbdu’l-Bahá translated by the Research Department of the Universal House of Justice in commemoration of the one-hundredth anniversary of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s passing. These prayers were also simultaneously made available in their original languages, Arabic and Persian.

Fortuitously, 26 selections lend themselves perfectly to one every two weeks for a full year. Therefore, the Utterance Project has decided to publish each of these twenty-six prayers—recited in the original language, transliterated, and subtitled in English—for the next twelve months, starting two weeks after the centenary of the Ascension on 27 November 2021, in order to end on the 101th anniversary of the passing of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.

With large celebrations and commemorations, there is inevitably a sense of loss once the occasion has ended. This is our attempt to extend the memory of this significant anniversary and keep its spirit alive in our hearts for a little while longer.
